VISITING CLINICS BRING SPECIALIZED
CARE TO THE COMMUNITY
Intensive Care nurses earn next-level credentials
A
ll the nurses in the PeaceHealth Ketchikan
Intensive Care Unit are now CCRN- or PCCN-
certified. This certification means they are
qualified to perform assessments of critical conditions,
give intensive therapy and intervention, advocate for their
patients, and operate life support systems. Nurse Manager
John McCormick has high praise for their hard work: “To
balance and perform all of these critical tasks, these
nurses are not only very organized, but they have shown
good judgment in making important decisions. We are all
very proud of them.” Additional education, experience, and
testing are required for the CCRN and PCCN designation.
